RWC Creates Wide Area Network for Miami Accounting Firm

When Berenfeld, Spritzer, Shechter & Sheer, (BSS&S), CPAs, a 50-person accounting firm headquartered in Pinecrest, Florida, merged with a small Weston, Florida, accounting firm, they were faced with a dilemma: how could they enable the new Weston office to share their database and software in a Real-time and secure environment?

The solution: Create a Wide Area Network (WAN), providing access for up to 25 users at a time.

“Real World Computing was able to link our Broward operation with our Miami office in a very short period of time,” remarked BSS&S partner, Phil Shechter. “We use only one set of files, eliminating the need for dual servers and duplicate software. We’re all online; our time and billing is all in ‘real time.’ I never realized that this service could be affordable to us.”

BSS&S’s Andy Wasserstrom agrees that the WAN was the best solution to meet the firm’s needs. “It all runs through the Internet,” he said, “enabling the Weston and Miami offices to use the firm’s database at the same time.”

Wasserstrom added that an extra benefit is that BSS&S’s partners and staff also can access the network from home. “Up to 25 people can log on at a time and use our tax database, our tax software – everything as if they were in the office.”

Using his trademark personalized service, Steven Colaizzi, president of Real World Computing, and his well-trained team worked on weekends or at night to complete the installation, minimizing down-time to the accounting firm.

“We’ve been using Real World for several years now,” Wasserstrom said. “They have helped us with several complex hardware and software computer issues.”

“Real World did a lot of testing to work out all the ‘bugs’ before installing this network,” Shechter said. “We’ve been very happy with Steven and his company.”
